Salford University

The Project

Replace the existing fire bells with a modern Voice Evacuation system. Design and install the 150 speaker system and add 42 new beacons within a busy university library, whilst ensuring the fire system is always operational.

The University is an enterprising University which transforms individuals and communities through excellent teaching, research, innovation and engagement. With over 20,000 students it takes its responsibilities towards fire safety very seriously and chose the UK's largest national independent fire and security company to undertake the design and installation of the Voice Evacuation system in its library building. Local Chief Engineer Lee Tudor told Abel News:

"this was just up our street. Our engineers understand how to work in busy occupied premises like universities and hospitals and we knew with good planning we would not let the customer down. Providing outstanding service is important to us."

John Riley from the University's facilities team said:

"Abel Alarm have done a great job. The Voice Evacuation system sounds fantastic and was installed on time and within budget".

Voice Evacuation systems speed up response times when you need to evacuate a building.
