ECA President Diane Johnson presented the first of sixteen CMI awards to four southern delegates of the Association’s Management Development programme. The programme was launched in June this year following the ECA’s approval as a CMI registered centre. Diane said: “We want member companies of all sizes to have the best support and assistance to help them thrive in the long term. The success and impact of this programme relies on companies recognising the value of investing their time and commitment into it, and I am delighted that the four ECA firms here today have had the foresight to do that.”

One of the first to receive an award was Gareth Brown of Abel Alarm Company Ltd who was awarded a CMI Level 2 Introductory Certificates in Team Leading.

Carl Meason, Operations Manager at Abel Alarm Communications and Monitoring Centre said: “We at Abel are extremely grateful as members of the Electrical Contractors’ Association for the opportunity to invest in our people utilising the management training programme. One of our candidates Gareth Brown has gained invaluable skills which have instantly made a positive impact to our business. Importantly, the programme has helped establish personal confidence in his ability to supervise and given him skills that are already being put to great use in one of our branches.”

The ECA hopes the programme will incentivise many companies to plan for the future by identifying potential management personnel within their own firms and giving them the opportunity to acquire formal management knowhow.
