The YMCA is the largest voluntary provider of secure and affordable support housing for young people in England, helping over 7000 people across the UK every night.
Bridgwater YMCA accommodates 53 young people over 3 sites and includes the George William House support facility open to the general public. the project involved a new build that had to be carried out around the existing buildings, which needed to be kept open at the same time as maintaining their security and fire infrastructure. Added to this was the Client's requirement to view all their CCTV systems across all sites from a remote location.
Abel was involved right from the start in the early planning stages. This included working with the Mechanical and Electrical consultants, to provide advice and help design the most effective system for the project. Abel also sourced the Graphica 2 software system, ensuring the CCTV met the YMCA's requirement for remote viewing. The complete scope of works included:
- Intruder Alarm (Europlex Signet:
- Fire Alarm (Kentec Syncro)
- Access Control (ACT)
- CCTV (Vista / VIdeswitch / Videcon)
In addition Abel provide 24/7 monitoring and maintenance from their Communication and Monitoring Centre.
As a result of the high levels of service provided, Abel is now a specified contractor working directly for the YMCA on numerous projects alongside the main contractor.
"I have worked with Matthew via Abel for a number of years on numerous projects within the YMCA. They always provide a high level of professionalism and knowledge regardless of the size of the job."
"I am looking forward to maintaining this relationship with regards to the future expansion of the Bridgwater YMCA."
